RAW BANANA CURRY-BALEKAI PALYA

Raw Banana is simply the green, unripe version of yellow ripe banana. Raw Banana is used to cook many dishes. I  used to prepare curry, fry and bajji using raw banana. Today I am sharing raw banana curry which goes well with rice as well as chapatis. After several months I m cooking raw banana. I usually prepare raw banana curry in 2 ways. One is by grinding onion, garlic and spice powders. The other one is by grinding coconut and spice powders. Today I will be sharing using the coconut method.

Ingredients:
2 raw bananas
1 medium size onion(finely chopped)
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
few curry leaves
1 red chilli
3-4 garlic cloves(finely chopped)
oil
salt

Ingredients for grinding:
4 tbsp shredded coconut
1/2 tbsp sambar powder
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tbsp coriander powder

Method:
1. Peel the skin in the raw banana and cut it into round pieces. wash it nicely in cold running water. In a pan add some water, raw banana, a little salt and boil it( see to that you don't add more water while cooking raw banana). Once its almost cooked switch off the flame.
2. In a blender add all the ingredients mentioned under grinding into a fine paste.
3. In a pan add 2 tbsp oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves, red chilli,  garlic cloves. Once the mustard seeds splutter add onions and fry until the onions turn golden brown. Next, add cooked raw banana and ground paste, required salt and mix well. In a medium flame slowly stir for every 2 mins. Once the raw banana is completely cooked and coated with masala switch off the flame. Serve hot and enjoy with hot rice or chapatis!!!
